Mr. Kudel graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1980 from American University, Washington College of Law.

Prior to his 1980 admission to the Maryland Bar, Mr. Kudel was engaged in other law related activities.  In 1971, Mr. Kudel was sworn in as a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC  where he was assigned to the Narcotics and Internal Affairs Divisions.  In 1978, he worked as a white collar crimes investigator in the Office of State's Attorney for Montgomery County Maryland.  From 1986 to 2000, Mr. Kudel was an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, University College, teaching in the Paralegal Studies Program.

In 2000, Mr. Kudel was elected President of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the following year, served as President of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation.  In 2002, Mr. Kudel was a delegate representing Montgomery County in the American Bar Association House of Delegates.  Also in 2002, Mr. Kudel was elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association and, since 2003, he has served on the Maryland State Bar's Association's Executive Committee. Mr Kudel is now serving his 4th consecutive term as Treasurer of the Maryland State Bar Association.

Since 2000, Mr. Kudel has been serving in an “Of Counsel” capacity with the Law Offices of Karp, Frosh, Lapidus, Wigodsky and Norwind, P.A., and has handled all of that firm’s clients charged with criminal, traffic, juvenile, and domestic violence disputes in the State of Maryland.
