John P. Kudel

John Patrick Kudel Criminal Top Rated Attorney in the state of MarylandMr. Kudel graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1980 from American University, Washington College of Law. Prior to his 1980 admission to the Maryland Bar, Mr. Kudel was engaged in other law-related activities. In 1971, Mr. Kudel was sworn in as a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, where he was assigned to the Narcotics and Internal Affairs Divisions. In 1978, Mr. Kudel worked as a white collar crime investigator in the Office of the State's Attorney for Montgomery County, Maryland.
From 1986 to 2000, along with practicing law, Mr. Kudel was an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, University College. In 2000, Mr. Kudel was elected President of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the following year, he served as President of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation.

In 2002, Mr. Kudel served as a Delegate representing Montgomery County, Maryland in the American Bar Association House of Delegates. Also, in 2002, Mr. Kudel was elected to serve on The Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association where he served as a Governor until 2005. Mr. Kudel went on to serve five consecutive terms as Treasurer of the Maryland State Bar Association and, in 2010, he was elected President-Elect. Mr. Kudel served as the 119th President of the Maryland State Bar Association from 2012 through 2013.

In 1980, Mr. Kudel became an attorney.  He served as an Associate in the law firms of Kevin P. Fay and Goldberg and Axel.  In 1984, he was named as a Partner in the law firm of Shure, Shure and Kudel. In 1987, he began a solo practice which he maintained until 2010. In 2000, he became “Of Counsel” to the Law Firm of Karp, Frosh, Wigodsky, Norwind & Gold, P.A. and represented that firm’s clients who were charged with criminal, traffic, and juvenile offenses in the State of Maryland. In 2010, he formed the firm known as Kudel, McGann & Del Pino, L.L.C. and when Christina Hughes joined the firm in 2013, the firm became known as Kudel, McGann, Del Pino and Hughes, L.L.C. On October 1, 2016, Mr. Kudel became a partner in the Karp firm that he had been Of Counsel to for 16 years. The new firm is known as Karp, Wigodsky, Norwind, Kudel & Gold. P.A. and Mr. Kudel is now Of Counsel to firm known as McGann, Del Pino & Hughes L.L.C.
